Hello World! If anyone is reading this, I have a medical question. On Thursday, I was scratched on my hand by a crazy monkey. I didn’t know at first because t scared me pretty bad, but a few minutes later I saw I had a little scratch/cut on my finger. It didn’t really bleed, and if it did it was only a drop. It just looked as if I had peeled a hangnail off. About 10-20 minutes after I got the scratch, I went and washed my hands really well with soap and water. Now I have a scab on my finger where the scratch was, and I’ve been worrying nonstop about getting a strange disease or something from the monkey, such as hepatitis or ebola. Yeah. If any of you is a doctor, please give me your opinion on if I should go to the doctor or if I’m fine or anything. MY parents tell me I’m fine but I still worry. Thank you.

If this was a monkey that is privately kept, you have no reason to worry about any disease. Most monkeys in the private sector are vaccinated with human vaccines and do not carry any infections that can spread disease to humans. In fact, monkeys are far more able to contract diseases from humans than the other way around. Since you washed your finger with soap and water after the scratch, you are fine. According to the CDC, there has not been a case of disease transmission from a pet monkey to a human in the US. So you do not need to worry.
Your worrying is getting on my nerves stop worrying you are fine especially if you haven’t developed anything by now.
hey mate, I’m Matt from Australia. I think you shouldn’t go to the docter because it’s just a scratch, it won’t kill you.
